Introducing Sudar Muthu, who is our next speaker for WordCamp Kochi 2017.

Sudar Muthu, is a Senior Web Engineer with 10up, a leading WordPress design agency, and a WordPress.com VIP Partner. Sudar has released over two dozens of WordPress plugins, and has been developing WordPress plugins for more than 8 years. He has also contributed to all major WordPress releases starting from v 4.3.

Sudar will be talking at WordCamp Kochi, on the topic – Developer tools that I use to increase my productivity as a WordPress developer

In his talk, he will talk about the various developer tools that he uses, to increase productivity as a WordPress developer. Through his session, he will explain in detail about what worked for him, as a WordPress developer, and and what did not. He will also be giving an introduction to these development tools, through his session.

Tools that he’ll introduce to us will be:
- WP-CLI – To efficiently interact with WordPress admin, even over SSH.
- PHP_CS – To quickly catch any WordPress formatting or coding errors.
- xDebug – To debug performance and other code issues.
- Vagrant – To setup proper local development setup
- PHPUnit – To run Unit tests
- IDE – PhpStorm and Vim

Meet Vivek Jain who’ll be talking about handling clients in human way

Introducing our next speaker for WordCamp Kochi 2017 – Vivek Jain

Vivek Jain is the the co-founder and the Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) at rtCamp, a Pune (India) based WordPress.com VIP agency. He’s passionate about delivering successful enterprise projects, and about maintaining ongoing client relationships. An active member of the WordPress community, Vivek has volunteered at different WordCamps in the US, and in India.

He’ll be speaking at WordCamp Kochi on the topic – Handling clients, the human way!

“Best Practices for Client and Project Management” is a subjective topic because everyone has a different opinion on how to develop the required skills to manage clients. Some experts stress on the importance of professional training to achieve the same, while others find hands-on mentorship as a starting point for great client management. Vivek thinks that there is, in fact, an easier way to get started, and to excel at managing clients while running a company/agency.

After working with diverse clients – ranging from small agencies to big corporations for over eight years, and by learning from the the bouquets and the brickbats he has received, Vivek has found that there are five basic questions that should be answered, and introspected on, to make an agency-client relation successful- Who exactly is your client? Is he a techie, manager, marketeer, or a user? What is expected from you? Go beyond gathering requirements and find out what your clients’ & their customers’ expectations are. When do you plan to give ongoing demos, and delivery? Build predictability. Why do clients send you those agitated mails? What is the real reason behind them?

His talk will cover about about how you can make this happen: by following the LED principal – Lead, Empathise, Document. Vivek has learned through his experience that answering these questions are building blocks for a successful client relationship- whether a small theme project or one with a huge scope. Because at the end of the day, we are humans dealing with humans. This talk is intended for anyone who deals with client/customer management.
