Vivek Jain is the the co-founder and the Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO)\u00a0at rtCamp<\/a>, a Pune (India) based WordPress.com VIP<\/a> agency. He’s passionate about delivering\u00a0successful enterprise projects, and about maintaining ongoing client relationships. An active member of the WordPress\u00a0community, Vivek has\u00a0volunteered at different WordCamps in the US, and in India.<\/p>\n

He’ll be speaking at WordCamp Kochi on the topic – Handling clients, the human way!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cBest Practices for Client and Project Management\u201d is a subjective topic because everyone has a different opinion on\u00a0how to develop the required\u00a0skills to manage clients. Some experts\u00a0stress\u00a0on the importance of professional training to achieve the same, while others find hands-on mentorship as a starting point for great client management. Vivek thinks that there is, in fact, an easier way to get started, and to excel at managing clients while running a company\/agency.<\/p>\n

After working with diverse clients –\u00a0ranging\u00a0from small agencies to big corporations for over eight years,\u00a0and by learning from the the bouquets and the brickbats he has received,\u00a0Vivek has found that there are five basic questions that should be answered, and introspected on, to make an agency-client relation successful- Who exactly is your client?<\/strong>\u00a0Is he a\u00a0techie, manager, marketeer, or a user?\u00a0What is expected from you?<\/strong> Go beyond gathering requirements and find out what your clients\u2019 & their customers’ expectations are. When do you plan to give ongoing demos, and delivery?<\/strong> Build predictability. Why do clients send you those agitated mails?<\/strong> What is the real reason behind them? <\/strong><\/p>\n

His talk will cover about about how you can make this happen: by following the LED principal<\/strong> – Lead, Empathise, Document. Vivek has learned through his experience that answering these questions are building blocks for a successful client relationship- whether a small theme project or one with a huge scope.
