In the past 5 years, Ashutosh has founded 2 IT firms that revolve around WordPress. Being a marketing and business development person, his core focus while using WordPress, was on bringing-in business as well as on branding.

Ashutosh is currently the Co-Founder and Creative/Marketing Head of FireMud FM – An Online Radio Station. It is after he was left more or less stranded technologically for my current venture, that he found his technological love – WordPress. Since then he has developed and delivered over 200 websites and consulted with 20+ online ventures. His belief is that ideas are in the air and one must start working on them immediately or someone else will.

As much as 83% of Indians are unemployed; among them there are several literates that prefer entrepreneurship as their field of interest. However, nearly 25% of them fail for the simple reason that either they lack innovation or the way to reach market. Ashutosh’s talk is aimed primarily at WordPress beginners and marketers to help them understand the basic strategies that will benefit them enter, flow and rise in the CORRECT market with the means of Social media, innovation, and correct content using WordPress. His session will also shed some light on how this amazing platform is self sustaining and innovative enough to make your blog/website grow.

Further, his aim in this session is to share his journey, and how, with time, he developed the maturity of reach the correct audience, and to brand his venture. He hopes to enlighten his listeners to NOT make the same mistakes that he made while attempting to reach out to correct audience. He will also share his journey about how he boosted his user count from thousands to lakhs in 4 months. Nirmal Desai is currently associated with rtCamp professionally, as a Business Manager. Having started his career as a developer, Nirmal soon redirected his focus on Business development, and consulting. Apart from being his passion, Nirmal believes that WordPress has helped his career grow, and has provided multiple platforms to utilize his skills. He wants to use this opportunity to share insights gained from years of experience, at WordCamp Kochi.

Nirmal Desai will present a session on the topic – WordPress for Enterprise publishers.

His topic will cover about the power of WordPress in an enterprise level. He will talk about, flexibility & editorial workflows for publishers with WordPress. Saleeh has had a passion for development since his school days. At age of 17, Saleeh started programming as a career, by developing a Student management system for his school. Eventually Saleeh got hooked to the world of WordPress and WooCommerce, when he worked on a freelance project for developing a custom WooCommerce site, in 2012. After understanding the M-commerce wave (ushered in by the mass adoption of smartphones), he got several enquiries for developing Mobile apps for Online stores and Blogs.

After building several apps from scratch, by hand, Saleeh his team later automated the task, by making an software-based engine. They realized that this was just the tip of the iceberg, and that, this has potential to become a platform for anyone to create in native mobile apps in just few clicks. Thus,  Appmaker.xyz was born! Appmaker.xyz is a company that provides tool for any WooCommerce store owner to convert their stores into Native mobile apps with just a few clicks.

Saleeh K is going to speak on the topic – WooCommerce REST API integration with Google Assistant

WooCommerce is the most popular eCommerce platform on the web and is a major eCommerce platform based on WordPress. Many businesses use WordPress and WooCommerce to manage their online presence. However, many store owners use other applications to manage their business, and often have no integration between these offline and online applications. In this session, he’ll demonstrate how you can use WordPress and WooCommerce REST APIs to seamlessly integrate together. As an example, Saleeh will show how to integrate a Telegram bot/Google Assistant with your WooCommerce-powered eCommerce store, and get notifications on new orders and updates. Introducing Jose Varghese who will talk about Progressive Web Apps In WordPress

Meet Jose Varghese – our next speaker for WordCamp Kochi 2018!

Jose started his journey in WordPress during 2010, and has worked upon more than 200+ websites on WordPress. He enjoys experimenting with PWA on websites, and tweaking settings, until they’re just right to make an increase on the website’s performance. Jose loves to stay current with the latest news and features coming out in Progressive Web Apps, and he loves  sharing his views, and ideas on the latest trends of PWA.

Progressive Web Apps (PWA) is a relatively new technology that aims to bring the best of mobile apps into mobile web. PWA’s enable websites to be installed on devices and have the content available for offline browsing, thus delivering app like browsing experience and improved performance. Although PWA’s are still in their early stages, a lot of the modern browsers already support them, and the possibilities they bring forth, are exciting.

Jose will be speaking at WordCamp Kochi on the topic – The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Progressive Web Apps In WordPress.

His session aims to introduce PWA fundamentals like ‘manifest’ and ‘service worker’ in an easy-to-understand language, with a demo of what a PWA experience looks like. He will also discuss some future possibilities of PWA. With the knowledge and the tools, users will be able to implement PWA features on their websites, right away.

Over the last year, Jose has been founded and working on a plugin to bring PWA features to WordPress named SuperPWA ( Super Progressive Web Apps – available on WordPress.org).  In his session, he will also share his experience, and lessons learned from working on the plugin, and on building a community around it.

Introducing Gaurav Pareek who will talk about their adventures in updating WordPress theme for Gutenberg

Gaurav is a Happiness Engineer at Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, and has been contributing to the WordPress community for a number of years.

Gaurav started working with WordPress in mid 2010, a staunch supporter of free software as a philosophy. They have spoken on topics such as local development, REST APIs, community, accessibility, as well as mental health, in WordCamps and other conferences across the world.

Govind started using WordPress early from his college days, helping SMEs and personal brands get online quicker, and cheaper through his part time web development endeavours. Currently working as a Data Scientist in EY, in the AI team, he spends his day cooking up solutions that lie in the realm of Machine Learning and Artificial intelligence to build a better working world.

His talk will cover more about conversational intelligence (or chatbots as we colloquially call this) which is changing the way businesses around the globe are interacting with the customers.

We are happy to present our  first speaker for WordCamp Kochi 2018, Mani Karthik.

Hailing from India, Mani has lived in California for most of his career, with a decade of experience in Online Marketing and blogging. He has worked with many small and big companies in USA, India, and the Middle East to help build their brands online.

He quit his job in U.S, and returned to India to follow his passion – blogging. He’s a full time blogger, and currently runs his own startup in Kochi with a distributed team. You can find him sharing his thoughts, and opinions with the world at manikarthik.com
