Jack Lenox will talk about better performing websites can help save the planet

We are excited to announce the next speaker at WordCamp Kochi 2019 – and that’s none other than Jack Lenox!

A parliamentary candidate for the Green Party of England and Wales, Jack is based out of Keswick, United Kingdom. Jack is also the point-person behind https://sustywp.com/ which is a practical initiative to make WordPress websites faster and more sustainable. Check out Jack’s blog post on the topic as well as the GitHub repo for Susty.

Jack will be live-streaming his session and will introduce all of you on the topic – How better performing websites can help save the planet.

The web has a dirty secret — its carbon footprint is larger than that of global air travel. The immense energy consumed by the Internet from non-renewable sources makes it the largest coal-fired machine on earth. Mozilla’s 2018 Internet Health Report highlighted this growing problem and stated that sustainability should be a bigger priority for the industry. Jack will provide practical steps to reduce the environmental impact of our work and promote a better future.
